FAQs
I want to sign up to be a host! Do I need to be an amazing cook?
We recommend that all our hosts have a passion for cooking, but it’s not obligatory for you to be a trained chef! Just make sure to let us know in the host sign-up that you have some level of experience with either hosting dinner parties or cooking.
Do I need to be based in Madrid, Barcelona or Valencia to take part?
As you may have noticed from our socials and website, the Second Sunday team is currently based in Spain and our events take place predominantly in the cities of Madrid, Barcelona and Valencia. However, the Second Sunday concept is not limited to a specific location - regardless of where you are based, you are more than welcome to join our community of hosts and guests. Let’s take this global!
I’m hosting a supper, can I choose my own guests?
One of the pillars of the Second Sunday concept is to bring together like-minded individuals who wish to expand their social circles and bond over their shared love for food. If you find your supper isn’t fully booked, you can of course invite someone from your own social circle, but we encourage hosts to leave room for new encounters!
I’ve applied to be a host! What measures are in place to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for both myself and guests when opening up my home to strangers?
In order to safeguard suppers as much as possible, both hosts and guests must provide a short introduction about themselves, including their reasons for hosting or attending a supper, which will be carefully reviewed by the Second Sunday team. We also recommend that hosts communicate any house rules or expectations ahead of time.
Will hosts be able to cater for my dietary requirements?
We advise you to communicate any dietary requirements and intolerances at the time of applying for a seat at a supper. The host will then be able to assess whether or not they have the capacity to cater for your needs.
Is there an age limit?
To ensure compliance with alcohol laws, all hosts and guests attending our suppers in Europe must be over 18 years old, while those attending in the USA must be over 21 years old.
How do I pay to attend a supper?
Once your request for a seat at a supper has been approved, we will send you the payment information via email. So, keep an eye on your inbox! Your spot is only confirmed once payment is complete, so please ensure you secure your seat by paying as soon as possible.
Can I attend more than one supper?
Of course! You can apply for as many suppers as you wish!
How will I know if my request for a seat at a supper has been accepted?
All communication about our suppers is carried out over email, so be sure to check your inbox if you’ve applied for a seat at an upcoming supper!
What’s the dress code?
Come as you are! We want guests and hosts alike to feel comfortable during their supper experience. In the event there is a specific dress code for an event, this will be communicated during the sign-up process.
What if I’ve booked a seat at a supper but can no longer make it?
In the event of a guest cancellation, we have the following refund policy:
Over 72 hours notice: guests will receive a full refund.
Within 72 hours: unfortunately, you will not receive a refund.
In the event of a host cancellation, all payments will be returned to guests who had completed the payment.
